Terms of Service
Effective June 2026 · Last updated June 2026
Welcome
Welcome to RESTR, operated by RESTR IT (Pty) Ltd (registration number 2026/405924/07) ("RESTR", "we", "us"). RESTR is a software platform that acts as a management layer connecting Student Accommodation Providers ("Landlords/Managers"), Tenants ("Students"), and Independent Third Parties ("Contractors"). By creating an account or accessing our web portal or mobile applications, you agree to these Terms.
1. Nature of the Service
RESTR provides software infrastructure only. Each accommodation provider operates independently on the platform and is solely responsible for its own properties, leases, billing, bursary administration, and the accuracy of the data it configures. RESTR is not a party to any lease, accommodation agreement, or payment arrangement between Students, Landlords, and Contractors.
2. Account Security & Verification
You must provide accurate, current information during onboarding and keep it up to date. You are responsible for safeguarding your login credentials. RESTR is not liable for unauthorised account activity arising from credentials you have failed to keep secure. Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access.
3. Financial Ledger & Billing Splits (CPA Context)
The platform may automatically segment a monthly invoice into structural balances (for example, Scheme versus Student Account) based on documentation supplied by your Landlord/Manager. RESTR is an administrative tool only: we do not process, collect, hold, or disburse rental payments or bursary funds. Any dispute regarding NSFAS or bursary allocations, payment delays, proof-of-payment verification, or outstanding balances must be resolved directly between the Student and the Landlord/Manager.
4. Room Inspections & Media Uploads
Upon bed allocation, Students must complete a room condition report within a strict 48-hour window. Until this inspection is completed, access to secondary platform features is blocked.
You certify that all text notes and device-camera imagery you upload during move-in or maintenance accurately reflect the physical condition of the property. Uploading fraudulent, altered, or misleading files to bypass platform controls is a material breach of these Terms.
Submitted move-in inspection records are locked and rendered read-only to preserve an unalterable audit trail for both Student and Manager.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to misuse the platform, including by attempting to circumvent access controls, uploading unlawful or fraudulent content, or interfering with other users' use of the service.
6. Limitation of Liability
RESTR provides the software "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind to the extent permitted by law. We are not responsible for property damage, late or withheld bursary payouts, the quality of maintenance performed by Contractors, deposit-withholding disputes, or any agreement between users.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded under South African law, including under the Consumer Protection Act.
7. Termination
We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these Terms. You may stop using the platform at any time, subject to obligations owed to your Landlord/Manager.
8. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified in-app or by email. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
9. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, and you submit to the jurisdiction of its courts.
